Hand carved praying Buddha, painted with gold leaf. Please note that the Finials of these praying Buddha figures are seperate pieces of wood and sit loosely on a dowl.
Making of gold leaf Buddhas is a long and intricate process. First the Buddha has to be hand carved from wood. Next a number of layers of priming paint are added to give the gold leaf something to adhere to. Then the gold leaf is hand painted on to the Buddha. After that the small coloured decorations are added.
