This wonderful elephant carving is cut into a rustic piece of reclaimed teak. Since teak is now protected in Thailand the master carvers of the Chaing Mai area are creating there pieces from reclaimed teak. As can be seen in from this elephant carving it has done nothing to hamper there mastery of their trade. Rather they are embracing the character of the reclaimed piece of teak and preserving the rustic feel of the wood in the carving. Enhancing the natural beauty of the wood with the carving skills that have developed over many generations.
